Forfusion Receives King’s Award for Enterprise for Promoting Opportunity

Forfusion has been awarded a King’s Award for Enterprise for Promoting Opportunity, recognising its work to widen access to careers in technology and help address the UK’s digital skills shortage.

Promoting Opportunity through access to Tech Careers

One of just 185 organisations nationally to receive the honour in 2026, the Award recognises organisations helping to improve access to skills and employment at a time when demand across the UK technology sector continues to outstrip supply.

The “Promoting Opportunity” category recognises organisations actively improving access to employment, skills, and career development.

At Forfusion, this is reflected in a focus on creating practical routes into technology careers, particularly for people transitioning into new stages of their working life.

Rather than relying solely on traditional entry routes, the business has developed structured programmes that provide hands-on experience and real exposure to technology environments.

Growth built around people

Forfusion has grown from a North East technology business into a company operating nationally across the UK. Alongside that growth, developing talent and creating opportunity has become part of how the business runs day to day.

As the organisation has scaled, this focus has remained consistent. Opportunity is not treated as a standalone initiative, but embedded into how Forfusion operates, from early careers and skills development through to structured programmes that support people into the technology sector.

Civilian Work Attachment (CWA) Scheme supporting Armed Forces Transition

A key part of this recognition is Forfusion’s Civilian Work Attachment (CWA) scheme, which supports Armed Forces personnel as they move into civilian employment.

The programme provides structured placements across technical and operational teams, alongside mentoring and development support.

It is designed to:

  • provide hands-on experience in enterprise IT environments.
  • support transition from military to civilian roles.
  • build confidence in technical and operational settings.
  • create clear, practical pathways into the technology sector.

The CWA scheme sits alongside Forfusion’s Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award and forms part of its wider commitment to the Armed Forces community.

Embedding opportunity across the business

Forfusion’s approach to opportunity is embedded across the organisation.

Alongside the CWA scheme, the business supports early careers, STEM engagement, and wider skills development activity, helping to create access points into the technology sector.

As Forfusion has grown, this focus has remained consistent: building capability while widening access to it.

Leadership perspective

Steven Forrest, CEO and Founder of Forfusion, said:

“Receiving a King’s Award for Enterprise is a moment of real pride for everyone at Forfusion. Being recognised for how we champion opportunity, particularly through our work supporting veterans into civilian careers, reflects our belief that innovation and growth are strongest when people come first.

We’ve built this business in the North East, and we’re proud that it now operates nationally while continuing to create meaningful pathways for talent to thrive across the sector.”
