This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cisco Consultant to provide professional services for Forfusion Government Secure Services on behalf of a major network equipment vendor. The role will expose the consultant to a significant proportion of the vendor’s portfolio and, where required, support will be provided to the consultant by the manufacturers Advanced Services team.
The Network Consultant will act as the primary technical contact at a prestigious customer location in Gloucestershire requiring DV clearance.
Duties expected of the Network Consultant are:
Assist with customer design issues and reviews
Ensure resolution of pre sales queries
Provide support to ongoing technical issues with a view to preventing the customer from having to raise TAC cases
Where resolution is not achieved the consultant is responsible for ensuring proactive resolution of TAC cases
Advise design and support personnel on vendor best practices, and strategies for implementation
Assist the customer with any queries related to the vendors services, escalating internally where required
Provide technical leadership to Forfusion support engineers
It is expected that the Consultant will be able to resolve queries related to core competencies, however it is anticipated that this will not always be the case. Where a query cannot be answered by the consultant the query will be triaged and access provided to the vendors Advanced Services, Business Units and TAC. To fulfil this role access is given to a significant proportion of the vendor’s internal databases, documentation and support processes.
The successful applicant will have previously worked in a senior design role, and have demonstrable experience in supporting, troubleshooting, problem solving, fault diagnosis, network administration and technical support of complex Cisco networks.
This is a senior engineering position within Forfusion and potential exists to work on other contracts. All applicants must be willing to work on other clients where required, potentially fulfilling design, implementation, test or support roles.
As well as an in depth knowledge of Cisco technologies and systems, the following qualifications, attributes and experience are mandatory for the Consultant:
Current Cisco CCIE or CCNP qualification
Industry related commercial IT experience
Current SC security clearance
A solid understanding of networking technologies
Experience of working within a team environment
Good at organising and multitasking
Able to explain technical problems in simple terms to different audiences
Have good interpersonal skills and has demonstrated the ability to build good customer relationships
A working knowledge of three of the following areas of Cisco technologies (LAN, WAN, Security, Virtualization, Wireless, Data Centre, Unified Communications)
Familiar with technologies such as TCP/IP, Gigabit Ethernet, ACL, STP, HSRP, VRRP, VLSM, VPN (SSL and IP Sec), OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, OpenSSL, MPLS, VRF, VPC and PKI
Knowledge of the following Cisco products - Catalyst switches (6500, 4500 and 3750X), Nexus switches, ISR G2 and ASR router platforms, ASA’s + IPS module, Load Balancing, LMS/NCS/WCS, Cisco AP’s and WLC
Configuration and management of Cisco UCS
Configuration and administration of Cisco ISE and/or ACS
Administration and configuration of Microsoft AD environments (MCSE, MCP)
Configuration and administration of Microsoft PKI environments
Working Hours and Environment
This role is based on site at the client premises in Gloucester and hours will generally be aligned to a normal working day (0900-1700) However, due to the nature of the environment there will be times when out of hours work is needed. Flexibility with working hours is expected, including being on call should the business require it.
This is an office based role; with potential travel to the customers other UK sites.
