Who Will Succeed in This Role?

You have a nose for business; sniffing out the truth, disqualifying intelligently and prioritising your efforts on genuine opportunities, pushing them through your sales funnel efficiently. You’re curious; you take sensible risks; you have a strong self-concept. You are confident in your ability to qualify hard, close easily and take ownership of your own success.

You’re an aggressive learner; but recognise you’re not the finished article.  You are looking for advancement and investment in you, wanting to be recognised for your victories and rewarded for your results. You want to advance along clear milestones which are within your control. When you're stuck, you have the humility to ask for help and feel no shame in doing so. You want to be trained, coached, mentored, challenged and stretched. You relish a different culture that affords you flexibility, work/life integration and the chance to be an integral part of a focused team.

You work tirelessly until you have sufficient pipeline to pick and choose who you want to work with. You only ever make promises you intend to keep and you’re comfortable discussing money in large numbers. If you ask a question, you make sure you get the answer. You organise yourself maximising coverage of your territory because you realise that you’re not in sales to make friends.  You plan because you know you’re never talented enough to turn up unprepared.

You’re always asking ‘why?’. Why haven’t they fixed their problem yet? Why does it really matter? Why aren’t they doing things differently? You challenge; you identify the root cause of their problems; you ask questions that help your prospects and clients gain insight as well as understanding. Your customers see you as a trusted advisor. When they have a problem, they pick up the phone to you first.

You’re comfortable working in complex, high-pressure markets, selling to people who are more experienced and have bigger egos. Nothing fazes you. You never make excuses, blame others or hide behind difficult market conditions, seasonal variation or economic downturn. You are responsible – no one else.
